This is part two of the Renting Vancouver Grad Limos series wherein we explore some of the important questions to ask, and which concerns to raise when securing your Vancouver grad limousine service
Of Commercial Insurance & Vancouver Limousine Permits
Each Vancouver limousine is required by provincial and federal law to carry commercial insurance and proper limousine permits. Unfortunately, the Yellow Pages and Internet do not.
Some Vancouver limousine ‘service providers’ found on the Internet aren’t even located in the Vancouver, Greater Vancouver or Vancouver Island area nor are they properly licensed.
To provide yourself with even further protection when securing your Vancouver grad limousine service, ask your limo service provider for proof of commercial insurance and proper limousine permits.
How Much Is “Your Average Vancouver Grad Limo”?
Another common question asked is how much the “average graduation limousine” goes for. The short answer – it varies.
Depending on the nature of the limousine you’re looking to secure, a limousine’s hourly rate typically ranges from $75 or $80 per hour for a stretch limousine to double or even triple that for fancier super stretch SUV limousines and limo buses.
As grad season is one of the busiest, there are certain hourly minimums which come into effect for graduation limo service. Some limousine companies start at minimum 4 hours while others offer 6 or 8 hour prom or grad packages. As you can see, the limousine service fee can vary greatly, depending entirely on the size of your party, which limousine is selected and how many hours you’ll need the vehicle for.
Keep in mind you may be able to reduce the cost per person by securing a larger grad or prom limousine. For example, let’s say a 12-seater stretch SUV may cost $140 per hour and have a minimum 4 hours – $560 between 12 people would be less than $50 per person. Take 6 passengers in a stretch limousine (a tight fit for members of the football team), at the same minimum 4 hours, one would be looking at around $320 to $340, or just under $60 per person.
PLEASE NOTE: these “hypothetical” prices roughly reflect Vancouver limousine industry averages at the time of this writing, and are only meant to demonstrate the benefits of larger groups traveling together in a larger limousine.
One last consideration when pricing out your Vancouver graduation limo – is the price all-inclusive, or will you be charged extra for fuel surcharges, parking, travel time or gratuities?
This brings part two of Renting a Vancouver Graduation Limo to a close. In part three, we delve into the issues of responsibility and liability as well as what to expect when securing your grad limo service.
